How to increase your chances of staying safe during the winter?

As winter awaits just around the corner, and with it the dreaded flu season, it’s time to re-think some daily routines to keep us safe and protected. Just like safe sex and sunscreen before, the current pandemic has introduced new daily routines to keep us safe from dangerous health risks. Protective masks and social distancing are teaching us that new daily routines are often the difference between continued health or a possibly fatal ailment.

Staying apart helps us stay together

We already know that airborne viruses are primarily transmitted by particles that can travel up to 6 feet through coughing or sneezing.

Social distancing isn’t always possible, especially when frequenting crowded spaces like a quick elevator ride, taking public transport or even waiting in line at the supermarket. There are so many unknown variables throughout the day that make us vulnerable, but we still have to maintain vigilance wherever possible.

The importance of staying clean

Personal hygiene is always important. During these times it’s life saving.  Make sure to wash your hands as often as possible and frequently use alcohol-based hand sanitizer, especially after being exposed to people in public spaces. It’s also important to frequently clean and disinfect touched surfaces daily such as tables, doorknobs, light switches, handles, desks, computers, phones, keyboards, sinks, toilets, faucets and countertops.

The protection gap

But even with all of these precautionary measures and the disruption to our daily routines, we are witnessing the numbers constantly on the rise.

There are several reasons for this. First of all, most masks don’t provide absolute protection, and their performance is further affected by how they are worn and how often they’ve been worn. Secondly, not everyone is wearing a mask, a sad fact that is endangering everyone and hindering the straightening of the curve.

Masks which have been just removed from the package and properly placed over both mouth and nose, still only provide up to 60% protection.

Many people are negligent in replacing their mask daily, and instead of being protected end up wearing a petri dish of bacteria over their face.

The pandemic paradox

Humans are both resilient and adaptive. We have proven this over the past year as we find ways of dealing with the pandemic. But there’s something tricky about the current nature of the pandemic. On the one hand, we see the number of casualties constantly rising, the reports from over-crowded hospitals, the restrictions in personal movement...yet, we also see an erosion in the collective will of many to observe the same level of vigilance from the onset of the pandemic. This is a dangerous paradox, as many feel the authorities have greatly exaggerated the risks, causing many to be reckless.

As the world continues to wait for a vaccine, now is definitely not the time to let our guards down.

A holistic approach to protection

This paradoxical state of being, where on the one hand we understand the dangers lurking, but on the other have collectively lowered our guard, requires a new, more holistic way of thinking about personal protection. We need to start thinking of protection in terms of layers.

On the one hand, we need to continue practicing social distancing and overall vigilance. We need to continue wearing face masks in public. But we also need to make sure we’re eating properly and doing exercise, 2 things that greatly affect our immune system and our general wellbeing and bolster our natural defenses against airborne viruses..

But there’s also another thing that connects all these dots and provides us with the additional layer of protection that gives us the best chances of staying healthy.

Your new daily routine

Taffix is a scientifically-proven nasal spray that was developed by Israeli pharma company Nasus Pharma after 3 years of R&D. The spray provides 5 hours of protection with every use and works by lowering the nasal cavity’s pH from 6.5 (where viruses thrive) to 3.5, where they are blocked.

It has been proven to block many airborne viruses, including the common flu and a slew of other respiratory viruses in the nasal cavity, where most viruses are known to enter the body.

The nasal spray launched in Israel where it is currently available in most pharmacies around the globe and it is currently available for purchase from its site.

According to Barbara Mann, Ph.D. as Associate Professor of medicine specializing in infectious diseases and international health at the University of Virginia, "Taffix was proven to effectively reduce the amount of live virus in laboratory”.

The moment before

Taffix is best used a few minutes prior to entering public spaces, such as work, public transport, schools, bars, restaurants, and any other place where you might interact with strangers. It can be used up to 3 times a day. Each personal package is good for about a month of usage. It’s recommended to stock up on your Taffix to ensure overlap of use.

If you follow these daily routines and rituals, you can enjoy the winter without worrying about catching anything.

Taffix does not replace use of masks and all other measures recommended by health authorities
